Work EnvironmentThe employee must be expected to work outside in all weather conditions and have suitable clothing. They must have the ability and willingness to work in adverse conditions, not just including extreme weather but enclosed spaces and heights up to 80 feet. The employee will be expected to work around and with machinery that produces loud noises and exhaust. Personal Protective gear is provided by the employer. This position does require handling and operating heavy equipment, which may introduce a high risk of slips, trips, and falls.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that an employee must meet to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Company drivers are required to sit and steer for long periods while having the ability to coordinate several parts of the body, such as arms and legs, while operating a commercial truck. A driver will be expected to operate forklifts used for loading and unloading sod and other farm and retail products. Drivers must be able to get in and out of their trucks multiple times throughout the day and use three-point contact on and off forklifts numerous times each day. Must have adequate leg, foot, arm, and hand control to climb into the cab, operate foot controls, and safely navigate the vehicle through traffic and weather.Position Type and Expected Hours of WorkTypical work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., though actual days and hours may vary at the discretion of the Regional Driver Manager or Logistics Director.During the harvesting season (typically March through September):Saturday work may be required, usually from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.Weekly hours increase, averaging 55–60 hours per week instead of the standard 40.Part-time roles may be considered and are subject to discussion and agreement between the driver and manager.TravelTravel is primarily regional interstate hauling during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and evening travel may be expected.Required Education and Experience- Applicants must be at least 23 years of age to be considered for this position.- 2+ years proven experience in commercial truck driving required.- Clean driving record with no major or excessive violations within the previous 3 years- Must possess a valid Class A CDL and Medical Card, including multi-state certification status.- Must pass background check and drug test.- Skilled at driving and parking large, heavy vehicles.- Alert, focused, and detail-oriented.- Physically and mentally fit.- Ability to lift 50 lbs. at a time.- Possess great physical stamina and focus during long driving shifts.- Able to operate electric lift, hand trucks, pallet jacks, etc.- Proficient using GPS and other routing systems.- Map reading and route planning experience.- An innate sense of direction.- Self-starter who works well independently.- Disciplined, dependable, and resourceful.- High level of composure and good stress management.- High school diploma or GED required.Additional Compensation:Safety Bonus: Drivers are eligible to receive a bonus equal to 10% of their total quarterly salary and drop pay earnings, minus bonus and commissions, based on incident-free driving, inspections, and compliance with internal safety protocols.Weekly Drop Pay: $50–$250 per week, depending on the number of completed drop-offs and customer locations.Additional Details:All drivers are W-2 employees.Pay is reviewed annually and may increase with tenure and performance.Driver Pay Range$50,000 - $85,000OTHER DUTIES:Please note that this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of the activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
